Bandari Fc cruised to the quarter finals of GOtv Shield tournament courtesy of former Sofapaka Fc veteran defender Noah Abich late spot kick edging out Nakumatt Fc 3-2 in a five thriller staged at Mbaraki Sports Club on Saturday 22nd July 2017.

The visitors kicked off on a high note with Boniface Akenga’s attempt but Bandari Fc experience goalie Wilson Oburu displayed excellent goalkeeping skills making a brilliant save on the 6th minute before the Dockers broke the deadlock five minutes later when Anthony Wambani connected with an incredible free kick delivered by former Mathare United defender Noah Abich heading in past Nakumatt Fc custodian Sammy Okinda giving the host a 1-0 lead.

Paul Nkata’s led side continued with their quest for a second goal which paid off in the 26th minute when overlapping left back Hassan Abdallah buried the ball into the net pulling a magnificent volley from the right wing after poor goalkeeping skills orchestrated by Nakumatt Fc keeper Sammy Okinda to extend Dockers lead to 2-0.

But the visitors managed to pull one back when Boniface Akenga delivered a fantastic killer pass finding Kepha Aswani who passed his marker Felly Mulumba after he slipped and went down to beat Dockers goalie Wilson Obungu reducing the scoreline to 2-1 before the Shoppers goalkeeper Sammy Okinda denied Anthony Wambani to notch his second goal with a explenary save on the 40th minute heading to the breather with the host leading 2-1.

On resumption the visitors came in stronger with Sammy Okinda exhibiting brilliant skills at the post when he denied Kevin Omondi to score from a close range shot on the 55th minute. 

A minute later Robert Omunuk curled in a superb cross finding Boniface Akenga in space to connect firing a brilliant strike to restore the game into parity.

However the host with home advantage managed to pile pressure which was fruitful on the 90th minute after former Bandari Fc midfielder David Naftali handled the ball from former GorMahia Fc attacker Jacob Keli’s shot for a penalty and Noah Abich stepped up to score the winner from the spot as Bandari Fc sailed through to the quarter finals of GOtv Shield.

Ten men Bandari Fc thrash Uweza Fc to sail through

Ten men Bandari Fc hammered Uweza Fc 3-1 to qualify for the next round of GOtv Shield tournament at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Saturday 24th June 2017.

New signing Baron Oketch opened his goal tally for the Dockers before Anthony Wambani doubled their lead follow by super sub Hamisi Mwinyi late strike. Wycliffe Odeho notched a consolation goal for Uweza Fc.


The Dockers demonstrated their intent to win from the onset pilling pressure in their opponent 18 yard box to concede a penalty kick on the first minute that saw former Ulinzi Stars striker Baron Oketch stepping up to take the spot kick sending the wrong way Uweza Fc goalie Boniface Odhiambo giving his side a 1-0 lead.

On the 8th minute Bandari Fc streched their lead to 2-0 after a defensive blunder orchestrated by Uweza Fc back line when they failed to clear the ball in their box allowing Anthony Wambani to pick up the loose ball firing in past Uweza Fc Boniface Odhiambo.

Uweza Fc pushed harder chasing the ball to reduce the deficit as their efforts bore fruits on the 30th minute when Andrew Waiswa conceded a penalty and Wycliffe Odeho stepped forward to notch the spot kick sending Bandari Fc keeper Wilson Obungu the wrong direction as both teams headed to the breather 2-1.

On resumption both teams came in rejuvenated to score more goals but Uweza Fc wasted a golden chance to restore the game into parity from a set piece seeing their skipper Alex Kimanzi lovely cross hitting the cross bar before Bandari Fc suffered a major set back when their center back Andrew Waiswa was sent off the field of play on the 75th minute after he committed a foul.

But the Dockers pulled a surprise move when super sub Hamisi Mwinyi sealed off the game when he scored a late winner to end the match 3-1 as Bandari Fc sailed through to the next round of Gotv Shield tournament.

Bernard Odhiambo’s hat trick sinks Bandari.

By Erick Banda Ndenga.Bandari Fc suffered their third defeat of the season losing 3-2 to league debutants Zoo Kericho Fc in a close contested five goals Sportpesa Premier League thriller staged at Green Stadium in Kericho on Saturday 20th May 2017.

Zoo Kericho talisman Bernard Odhiambo was phenomenal with a stunning man of match performance scoring a hat trick against the Dockers to assure his side the covetted three points at stake.

The host kicked off on a high note demonstrating their intent to bag the maximum points through Bernard Odhiambo who continued tormenting Bandari Fc back line in the opening minutes before his wrath was felt on the 20th minute after a splendid counter attack to fire in a stunner past Dockers Keeper Wilson Obungu giving his side an early 1-0 lead.

After five minutes of play the goal scorer was on target again when he notched a brace on the 25th minute unleashing a thunderous shot burying the ball at the back of the net that caught off guard helpless Bandari Fc goalie Wilson Obungu to double their lead to 2-0.

Before former Gor Mahia Fc attacking midfielder Enock Agwanda managed to pull one back for the Dockers in the 38th minute as the game headed to break with Bandari Fc trailing 2-1.

On resumption Zoo Kericho continued to pile pressure with their point man Bernard Odhiambo on the 48th minute after he received a superb pass from a beautiful cross to connect with a superb fly header past Bandari Fc goalkeeper Wilson Obungu inspiring his side with an emphatic hat trick as Zoo Kericho opted to defend their lead packing their defense with more men at the back giving Bandari Fc a hard time to break into the 18yard box.

But Shaban Kenga managed to reduce the decifit to 3-2 in the 73rd minute after a brilliant attack in the box as the host stood firm to defend their lead till the final whistle.

Tusker beat Sony to extend their winning streak

By Erick Banda Ndenga.Tusker Fc continued with a perfect run keeping their title defense campaign alive following a 2-1win against Sony Sugar Fc at Ruaraka Stadium today extending their winning streak to five consecutive matches.​

Tusker Fc scored an opener in the 38th minute when Allan Wanga fired in long range shot outside the 18 yard box to hit the bar and bouncing behind Sony Sugar Fc keeper Kevin Omondi giving the Brewers a 1-0 lead.

After the break Brewers doubled their lead to 2-0 when George Mandela delivered a killer pass setting up Michael Khamati to connect with a superb low shot past Sony Sugar custodian Kevin Omondi on the 61st minute.

On the 77th minute substitute Yemi Mwani was brought down by James Situma in the 18yard box for a penalty and Amos Asembeka stepped up to take the spot kick burying the ball into the net past Tusker Fc goalie Duncan Ochieng to give his a consolation goal.

Bandari  Fc suffered a 1-0 loss against Kariobangi Sharks.

Bandari Fc suffered a 1-0 loss against premier league debutant Kariobangi Sharks in a hard fought Sportpesa Premier League tie staged at Machakos County Stadium on Saturday 13th May 2017.

Ugandan International Mathew Tayo scored the lone strike in the 34th minute when Bolton Omwenga delivered a through ball for him to connect making impressive run tearing apart Dockers back line to unleash a thunderous shot past Bandari Fc goalie Wilson Obungu giving the host an early 1-0 lead.

The Dockers kicked off on a high note with Jacob Keli pulling a feeble shot from a free kick that landed straight into Kariobangi Sharks custodian Jeff Oyemba’s hands in the opening minutes of the game.

Sharks responded through former Bandari Fc attacker Masoud Juma who fired a stunner from the left flank for veteran Bandari Fc keeper Wilson Obungu to punch the ball before Jacob Keli connected with a in midfield to embark on an individual run into the 18yard box but Pascal Ongweno stood firm in defence denied his a chance to bury the into the net

In the 40th minute Dockers head coach Paul Nkata threw his towel introducing Shaban Kenga into the fray for Tyrone Omondi to inject pace up front in a bid restoring the game parity but their move was in vein as first half ended with Kariobangi Sharks leading 1-0.

On resumption Sharks head coach William Muluya made his first change bringing in Steve Odhiambo for injured Bolton Omwenga before seeing both side wasting a couple of chance.

This prompted Dockers tactician Paul Nkata pulled his secord card sending in Enock Agwanda for Jacob Keli to stir up his striking force in their chase for an equalizer.

His counterpart William Muluya responded in the dying minutes making a double substitution throwing in Duke Abuya and Ochieng Ovella for Rodgers Omondi and the goal scorer Mathew Tayo to win the midfield battle which was overrun by Bandari Fc.

Kariobangi Sharks managed to defend their 1-0 as the match ended after 90 minutes of play to bag the maximum points extending their winning streak to three consecutive matches.

KPL signs a partnership with La Liga.

Kenya Premier League(KPL) and La Liga have marked a milestone in Kenyan top flight football launching a mega partnership deal today in Nairobi that would see an All Stars team travel to Spain for a match and other programs meant to develop the sport in line with Football Kenya Federation goal for Harambee Stars to participate in 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This move comes courtesy of Sportpesa partnership with top notch European league as their official gaming partner in Africa that was signed three weeks ago.

According to the President La Liga Javier Tebas during the launch reiterated that the agreement is part of their international expansion strategy that underscores our commitment to growth of football in Africa adding that our presence in Kenya with a representative on the ground gives the partnership life.

Oliver Dodd has been appointed to head La Liga Kenya and their mandate is to promote the league’s activities in the country at the KPL offices in Nairobi.

KPL Chairman Ambrose Rachier revealed that a KPL All Star side would be selected to play in Spain and La Liga will host KPL administrators in Spain adding that “La Liga is a very valuable partner and it is my call to clubs owners and administrators, players, coaches, medical personnel, as well as the media to take the challenge of putting into practice the lessons which will be learnt from our association with La Liga seriously.”

He continued that “The growth of the KPL and Kenyan football in general as a result of partnering with La Liga, will also be a success for them as it will be a fruit of their global expansion network.” 

The main objectives of the partnership deal are to promote co-operation, friendly relations and unity between the two bodies in a bid to enhance capacity building and development between the two leagues to ensure professionalism aimed to foster development of professional football clubs in KPL.

Others include to promote both competitions through marketing that seek to popularise them within and outside Kenya in addition to technological transfer from the Spanish league to the domestic competition as well as promotion of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms for amicable resolution of conflicts and to uphold laws and football statutes.

“This is what happens when sports gets sponsorship. We are happy La Liga have agreed to partner with KPL. It gives the league an opportunity to learn,” SportPesa CEO, Ronald Karauri stressed.

The deal would see La Liga through their local representative assist KPL management in improving management of the league generally and in particular, individual clubs and support the training of coaches on match analysis tools and software used by their counterparts in Europe.

Medical experts from La Liga will collaborate with their counterparts in KPL medical committee to handle matters doping, players’ health and safety as well as cooperation in combating audio visual piracy in digital video broadcasting.

KPL Executives and Administrators are set to visit clubs in Spain to learn management structures with La Liga offering support in establishing a youth league (Under 20) of teams.

La Liga and KPL shall be involved in development of community football through supply of jerseys, boots, bibs and ball with teams in the Spanish top division donating kit and equipment to be channeled to grassroots teams.

The visitors managed to break the deadlock on the 30th minute when their talisman Masita Masuta delivered a through ball setting up Boniface Omondi who had been impressive tearing apart Bandari defense to unleash a brilliant strike burying the ball at the back of net past Dockers goalie Wilson Obungu giving his side an early 1-0 lead as the match headed to the breather with Nzoia Sugar Fc leading by a solitary goal.
The Dockers came in rejuvenated on resumption pilling pressure for an equalizer with Anthony Wambani and Jacob Keli attempts to level the scores denied by outstanding Nzoia Sugar keeper Mustapha Oduor before their efforts paid off in the 60th minute when former St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale midfielder Wilberforce Lugogo notched an equalizer from a corner set piece to restore the game to parity..

Gor Mahia Fc bounced back to register an emphatic 3-0 victory against their arch rivals AFC Leopards in a one sided dominated Sportpesa Premier League(SPL) clash played at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday 7th May 2017.

The fifteen times SPL champions demonstrated their intent to bag the maximum points in the opening minutes with Meddie Kagere side stepping his marker Salim Abdalla in the 18yard box but former Mathare United defender Robinson Kamura cleared the ball away before George Odhiambo floated in a lovely cross but Ingwe back line stood firm to keep them at bay.

On the 20th minute Kogallo managed to break the deadlock when Timothy Otieno delivered a through ball setting up Meddie Kagere who connected with brilliant shot past Leopards keeper Ian Otieno giving his side an early   1-0 lead.

Timothy Otieno’s wrath was felt again in the 36th minute when he delivered a killer pass finding George Odhiambo who pulled a magnificent strike burying the ball into the net beating Ingwe goalie Ian Otieno extending their lead to 2-0 as the match headed to the breather.

On the restart Stewart Hall led charges came in strong with Paul Kiongera setting up Ghanian Gilbert Fiamenyo when he delivered a superb through ball but the receiver fired in a feeble shot that landed straight to Gor Mahia Fc custodian Boniface Oluoch’s hands.

Ze Maria led charges sealed the match in the 82nd minute when Godfrey Walusimbi curled in a lovely free kick at the edge of the box that Leopards goalkeeper Ian Otieno failed to catch the ball allowing Timothy Otieno to pounce on the dead ball with a fantastic fly header into the net assuring his side a comfortable 3-0 win after 90 minutes of play.

The win propelled Kogallo to position two on the table with 19points in nine matches two points behind unbeaten premier league leaders Posta Rangers Fc.

Tusker beat Homeboyz to keep their title defense alive.

The reigning Sportpesa Premier League champions Tusker Fc title defense campaign is still on the upbeat after beating Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 in a closely contested clash played at Ruaraka Stadium on Saturday 6th April 2017. 

Midfield maestro Humphery Mieno notched the match winner in the 33rd minute after a low shot from Marion Tanguzi was spilled by Kakamega Homeboyz keeper David Juma creating a perfect chance for the midfielder to connect with the dead ball by tapping in past Homeboyz goalie propelling the Brewers to position four on the log.

Tusker Fc kicked off the match on a high note with Allan Wanga and Humphrey Mieno saw their attempts going narrowly wide before the visitors responded in the 11th minute when Wycliffe Opondo rounded up Shafik Batambuze to fire in a superb strike but Tusker Fc custodian Duncan Ochieng kept them at bay heading to the breather 1-0.

Meshack Karani wasted a golden chance to level the scores in the second half firing the ball off the mark with Brewers goalkeeper Duncan Ochieng off his line before Steve Wakhanya unleashed a brilliant low shot but Tusker Fc goalie punched the ball for a corner.

On the 60th minute Shafik Batambuze delivered a fantastic free kick setting up Humphrey Mieno to score his second goal but the receiver was late to connect allowing Kakamega Homeboyz keeper David Juma to easily pick the ball.

Charles Momanyi squandered an opportunity to restore the game to parity on the brink of second half only to head in off the crossbar with Tusker Fc on the other end replied through substitute Anthony Ndolo but his shot lacked direction seeing the ball flying over the bar to give the host three points after 90 minutes of play.

Bandari Fc down Mathare United as Kariobangi Sharks extended their winning streak.

Bandari Fc edged out Mathare United by a solitary goal to pick their maiden away win in a hard fought Sportpesa Premier League encounter staged at Machakos County Stadium on Friday 5th May 2017.

Anthony Wambani scored the match winner in the 32nd minute when he capitalized on a defensive blunder orchestrated by Slum Boys defence line to give the Dockers their first away win after he connected well with a superb cross delivered by former AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia talisman Jacob Keli.

In another match played at the same venue league debutants Kariobangi Sharks continued with their perfect run to register their fourth win of season trouncing Sony Sugar Fc 2-0 courtesy of youngster Ovella Ochieng’s brace on the 22nd and 78th minute respectively propelling them to position eight on the league standings with 13 points in 9 matches while the sugar millers are still stack at number fifteen with 8 points in 9 games.

At Sudi Stadium in Bungoma battle of Premier league babies pitting Nzoia Sugar Fc against Nakumatt Fc ended on a 1-1 draw with Kepha Aswani’s 31st minute strike giving the visitors a 1-0 lead was written off on the 56th minute when Boniface Omondi levelled the scores to salvage a precious point for his side.
