Leopards ends Kogallo’s unbeaten run in 79th Mashemeji Derby

Rejuvenated AFC Leopards ends GorMahia’s unbeaten record in the 79th “Mashemeji Derby” by a solitary goal in an spectacular match played at Safaricom Stadium on Sunday.
Super Sub Lamine Diallo netted the match winner in the 80th minute when he tapped in passed Kogallo Skipper Jerim Onyango after connecting with Clifton Miheso’s cross to stir up Ingwe supporters into celebrations.

The win propels Ingwe at the summit of SPL standings with 10 points sending their arch rivals to 12th position with 3points.
Both teams made changes in their starting line up with Frank Nuttall opting to star with Luke Ochieng for Karim Nzigiyimana and Ivan Jacky Minnaert on his maiden mashemeji derby opted to give youngster Alfred Wafula his debut in favour of experienced Lamine Diallo and Allan Katerega.
Kogallo could have taken an early in the 2nd minute when Godfrey Walusmbi cut in from the left flank to curl the ball into the net but Leopards keeper Lucas Indeche kept them at bay making a reflex save.
Leopards started a counter move from the right with Clifton Miheso finding Wekesa who controlled the ball and dribbled tearing apart GorMahia’s defence line prompting Luke Ochieng to tackle the youngster at the edge of the box as the match referee Anthony Ogwayo waved to play on.
Lucas Indeche displayed top notch performance as he called to make outstanding saves from Innocent wafula 12th minute low strike instead of passing to Georgy ‘blackberry’ Odhiambo who was in a better position to tap into the net as Wafula passed two defenders one minute later but his finishing was poor with Indeche easily picking up the weak Shot.
Minnaert had to make his first change bringing in experienced Allan Katerega for injured Wekesa in bid to stir up their attacking line.
Allan Katerega stir up the attacking line with his pace as his first attempt with a long range strike calling GorMahia’s keeper on duty in bid to keep up the clean sheet.
Innocent Wafula wasted his last opportunity in the 45th minute after falling to connect with Odhiambo’s through ball allowing Indeche to come off his line to save Leopards ending the action 0-0.
In the second half Gor had the first chance to grab the lead through blackberry’s screamer demanding Indeche’s intervention making an explenary save to keep Kogallo at bay.
Ivan Jacky Minnaert had to thrown in his second card to Simon Abuko last action in 71st minute when he passed Abouba Sibomana making a shot that gave Jerim Onyango a hard time to handle as he was replaced by Lamine Diallo to give life to Leopards attacking line.
Frank Nuttall decided to bringing in former AFC Leopards striker Jacob Kelli in the 78th minute for George Odhiambo.
Leopards had to capitalize on Kogallo’s defensive lapse that saw Miheso crossing the ball in to find Diallo in the 80th minute to tap in narrowly wide in the far right corner giving Ingwe the match decider.
Gor decided to come up in full throttle in attack a move that could have punished them twice with Kateregga shot being saved by Jerim before Miheso blew his chance to make the game 2-0 just a minute before the final whistle.
