Harambee Stars extended their impeccable run walloping Liberia by a solitary goal in an international friendly encounter at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Tuesday 15th November 2016.
Acharnaikos winger Paul Were notched the match winner in the 51st minute beating the offside trap passed Liberia Keeper Tommy Songo to give Stars a 1-0 lead.
The visitors kicked off on a high note with Mamelodi Sundowns star Anthony Laffor’s attempt for an opener easily picked by Harambee Stars custodian Boniface Oluoch before Kenya created a chance minutes later through Lierse forward Ayub Timbe but he was late to find Djurgårdens IF forward Michael Olunga.
Slava Sofia left back Abud Omar curled in a brilliant cross that was cut off by the Liberia defense before Zesco United defender David Owino picked the rebound but his effort hit the crossbar.
In the 20th minute Posta Rangers center back Joackins Atudo delivered a brilliant cross to find Michael Olunga in space who connected fire in a weaker shot that landed straight to Liberia goalie Tommy Songo’s hands.
Liberia had their chance to break the deadlock in the 33rd minute when Van Dave Harmon fire in a magnificent strike outside the box that went direct to Harambee Stars goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch before Stars Captain Victor Wanyama’s fly header from Ayub Timbe’s free kick went narrowly wide on the 36th minute.
In the 38th minute Mathare United midfielder Eric Johanna commenced an impressive run passing his marker to fire in a low shot that was collected by Liberia keeper Tommy Songo before their one two attack with Joackins Atudo floating in a cross to find Michael Olunga in the box but Songo came off his line to pounce on the ball two minutes later.
Liberia’s Murphy Dorley won a free kick on the left flank in the 43rd minute that end up into a fruitless corner before Joackins Atudo unleashed a screamer but Liberia shot stopper Tommy Songo stood tall in his goal posts to end first half in a barren draw.
Harambee Stars head coach Stanley Okumbi threw his towels making tactical substitutions at the start of the second half throwing in into the fray Erick Ouma, Anthony Akumu and Simon Mbugua for Abud Omar, Victor Wanyama and Joackins Atudo respectively.

Anthony Laffor had a golden chance to level the scores in the 71st minute when put through but blasted wide in a one against one situation before the game took a new twist with the host controlling the match defending their 1-0 lead.
