Zoo Kericho run down Ulinzi Stars to pick their maiden win

League debutant Zoo Kericho Fc bounced back to register their maiden win of season beating Ulinzi Stars 2-1 in a hard fought Sportpesa Premier League tie staged at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru today.

The Ulinzi Stars demonstrated their intent to bag the maximum points on the 2nd minute when Daniel Waweru delivered a brilliant pass finding Stephen Waruru in space but the receiver was late to connect allowing the ball to roll out of the field of play.

Zoo Kericho Fc responded through Bernard Odhiambo in the 6th minute but Ulinzi Stars Keeper James Saruni stood tall blocking his effort to keep them at bay before Stephen Waruru delivered a fantastic through ball setting up Cliff Kasuti but the receiver fired a feeble shot heading straight to Zoo Kericho Fc custodian Vincent Misikhu’s hands two minutes laters.

In the 18th minute the visitors broke the deadlock when Dominic Ouma pulled a long range shot from the center of the pitch finding Geoffrey Gichana in space to connect with a superb volley beating helpless Ulinzi Stars goalie James Saruni giving newcomers a 1-0 lead.

But their lead lasted for only ten minutes when Churchill Muloma passed his marker to connect with a beautiful curled cross to fire in a spectacular shot outside the box that caught off guard Zoo Kericho goalkeeper Vincent Misikhu to level the scores 1-1 on the 31st minute.

Th Soldiers had perfect chance to double their lead on the brink of first half after Stephen Waruru was brought down in the 18 yard box for a penalty as Daniel Waweru stepped up to take the penalty kick sending Zoo Kericho goalie Vincent Misikhu the wrong way but the cross bar came to their rescue to head to breather 1-1.

On the restart Ulinzi stars came in rejuvenated but Zoo Kericho Fc Vincent Misikhu stood firm on the post to deny Samuel Onyango in one on one situation on the 50th minute before he stopped three quick shots from Daniel Waweru, Stephen Waruru and Brian Birgen six minutes later.

The visitors doubled their lead on the 72nd minute when Bernard Omondi took a free kick curling the ball in the box to find Nicholas Kipkirui and the receiver connected with a splendid header past Ulinzi Stars keeper James Saruni giving his side a 2-1lead.

AFC Leopards came from behind to salvage a point in a closely contested Sportpesa Premier League tie holding 10 man Posta Rangers to a 1-1 draw at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Saturday 29th April 2017.

Leopards talisman Gilbert Fiamenyo was on target in the 12th minute when he buried the ball into the net past Posta Rangers keeper Patrick Matasi but his goal was disallowed for an offside.

The host won a free kick outside the box on the 20th minute creating a brilliant chance for Jerry Santos to end the stalemate when the free kick was floated in for him to connect with a superb fly header past Ingwe goalie Ian Otieno giving the Mail Men a 1-0 lead. 

Ingwe pilled pressure to level the scores unfourtunately all was in vein allowing Posta Rangers to hit them with counter attack move on the 37th minute when Dennis Mukaisi failed to bury the into the net after rounding up AFC Leopards custodian Ian Otieno only to fire in feeble shot sending the ball inches wide.

After the break Leopards head coach Stewart Hall made his first change introducing Paul Kiongera into the fray for Andrew Tololwa to inject pace up front as there opponents opted to play cautiosly.

Before Allan Kateregga curled in a lovely cross setting up substitute Paul Kiongera to connect with a brilliant header beating Posta Rangers goalkeeper Patrick Matasi but it was disallowed after an infringement against Patrick Matasi was upheld on the 59th minute.

In the 70th minute Whyvhone Isuza sent in a magnificent cross finding Ghanian International Gibert Fiamenyo in space to connect with a fantastic volley past Mail Men custodian Patrick Matasi to level the scores 1-1.

Posta Rangers suffered a big blow on the 80th minute when Joseph Mbugi was sent off after a second bookable offense but their defence marshalled by veteran Joackins Atudo stood firm cutting off attacks from Ingwe to walk home with a point maintaining their lead at summit of the log with 18points while AFC Leopards lie at position four with 14points after eight matches played respectively.

Allan Wanga’s lone strike hands Tusker Fc three points against Muhoroni.

By Erick Banda Ndenga.Allan Wanga’s late strike was enough for Tusker Fc to grab the vital three points after edging out Muhoroni Youth by a solitary goal in a dull Sportpesa Premier League(SPL) match staged at Muhoroni Stadium on Saturday 29th April 2017.

The reigning SPL champions kicked off the match on a low note allowing the host to attack with their first corner kick on the 14th minute with Robert Ouma floating in a weak cross before he wasted another chance on the 34th minute to end the stalemate.

Both side settled into the game on the brink of first half when Michael Khamati delivered a fantastic pass that saw Tusker Fc register their first corner before Collins Shivachi was cautioned for fouling Kennedy Rono in a bid to cut off Muhoroni’s counter attack.Robert Ouma was also booked for fouling George Mandela when he passed his marker to cutting into Muhoroni’s 18yard box heading to the breather 0-0.

On resumption Tusker Fc head Coach George Nsiimbe threw his towel with a double substitution bringing in Hassan Abdalla for Collins Shivach and Cliffford Alwanga for Michael Khamati on the 58th minute before he his last card on the 70th minute introducing Anthony Ndolo for George Mandela to stir up his fire power in a bid to break the deadlock.

His move paid off on the 84th minute when Allan Wanga struck past Muhoroni Youth keeper Salim Sowedi from Humphrey Mieno’s free kick to give the Brewers their third win of the season.

Tusker’s lead prompted Muhoroni Youth tactician James Omondi to respond making a double change introducing Eric Baki and Philip Muchuma for Daniel Otieno and Maxwell Onyango on the 88th minute but his did not bore any fruits as the match proceeded to full time with Tusker Fc leading 1-0.

The win propelled Tusker Fc to position six on the league standings with 12points confining their opponents at number twelve with 7points.

Posta Rangers cements their slot at the top with Tusker,Sofapaka,Homeboys and Nzoia winning against Nakumatt,AFC,Ulinzi and Stima respectively.

Posta Rangers extended their impressive unbeaten run in SportPesa Premier League (SPL) to seven games after edging out Sony Sugar Fc by a solitary goal courtesy of Jared Obwoges lone strike in a closely contested league tie at Awendo Green Stadium on Wednesday 26th April 2017.

Jared Obwoge came off the bench to score the match winner on the 83rd minute handing Sammy Pamzo Omollo’s led charges three points cementing their unbeaten run with 17 points at the summit of the league standings.

On the other hand Ulinzi Stars saw their unbeaten run crushed after they lost 1-0 to 10 men Kakamega Homeboyz in a highly contested midweek SPL clash staged at Mumias Sports Complex. 

Wycliffe Ochomo assured his side the crucial win when he notched the only goal of the game against his former employers on the 4th minute but unfortunately he was forced to retire early after he was slapped with a red card on the brink of the first half.

Elsewhere premier league debutants Nzoia Sugar Fc hammered Western Stima 2 0 in another SPL midweek tie slated at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.Edgar Nzano missed a perfect chance to give his side an early lead from a penalty kick on the 14th minute before Boniface Omondi and Joakim Oluoch struck one goal apiece to ensure their side bagged the maximum points. 

In Nakuru reigning SPL champions Tusker Fc bounced back to winning ways beating newly promoted Nakumatt Fc 2 1. Nakumatt Fc grabbed an early lead on the 4th minute through Kepha Aswani before Marlon Tangauzi restored the game to parity when he leveled the scores in the 75th minute together with midfield maestro Humphrey Mienos strike on the 79th minute assuring George Nsiimbe three vital points.     

At Machakos County Stadium Charles Okwemba haunted his former employers AFC Leopards when he scored an opener and a match winner to break Ingwes unbeaten run on the 49th minute to give Sofapaka Fc 1-0 victory as Batoto Ba Mungu move to third on the log with 14 points.

In another SPL match pitting Mathare United against Chemelil Sugar Fc ended in a barren draw at Thika Sub County Stadium was the only tie on the day that ended goalless.

Bandari Fc suffered a 2-1 loss in a highly contested Sportpesa Premier League tie staged at Mbaraki Sports Club on Wednesday 26th April 2017 ending their perfect record at home.

Innocent Wafula on his debut for Gor Mahia this season gave his side an early 1-0 lead on the 11th minute when Ugandan Import Godfrey Walusimbi delivered a killer pass setting up Innocent Wafula to connect with a fantastic strike past Dockers goalie Joseph Okoth.

Before the hosts bounced back with superb chance to level the scores on the brink of first half through their talisman Danny Sserenkuma but Kogallo custodian Bonface Oluoch came off his line clearing the ball to proceed to the halftime break 1-0.

On resumption Gor Mahia Fc tactician Ze Maria threw his towel in the 50th minute bringing in Amos Nondi for Kenneth Muguna prompting his counterpart Paul Nkata to reply by sending in his son Fred Nakata for Danny Serenkuma.

The Dockers penalty appeal was granted on the 51st minute after Musa Mohammed fouled Shaban Kenga in the box. Former Sofapaka Fc defender Noah Abich stepped up to send Gor Mahia Fc keeper Boniface Oluoch the wrong direction restoring the game to parity.

The goal forced Ze maria to throw his second card introducing Olivier Maloba into the fray for George Odhiambo in the 62nd minute.

His bore fruits on the 67th minute with substitute Oliver Maloba floating in a lovey cross setting up overlapping Godfrey Walusimbi to fire in a magnificent shot hitting the bottom of the bar into the net past Bandari Fc goalie Joseph Okoth to restore Gor Mahia’s lead.

With three vital points in their bag Gor Mahia Fc climbed to the second spot on the league standings while Bandari Fc lie at number seven on the league table.

Ten Men Tusker Fc held Gor to salvage a point as Posta Ranger tops the league.

By Erick Banda Ndenga.The battle of the titans pitting Gor Mahia Fc against reigning SportPesa Premier League (SPL) champions Tusker Fc ended on a barren draw that Brewers finish the encounter with ten men after Ugandan international midfielder Hashim Sempala was sent off on the 81st minute at Afraha Stadium on Saturday 22nd April 2017.

The match kicked off on a low note due to harsh weather conditions experienced in Nakuru orchestrated by pounding downpour as both teams took time settling in the game because of the slippery turf with the best option to attack is through long range balls.

Mighty Kogallo demonstrated their intent to break the deadlock in the 13th minute with Godfrey Walusimbi floating in a lovely cross in the box for Jacques Tuyisenge but he was late to connect allowing Allan Wanga to cut off the attack by sending the ball out for a corner.

Ze Marias led charges continued with their push for an opener with Kenneth Mugunas brilliant runs in midfield setting up Meddie Kagere in the 18th minute to cutting in tearing apart Tusker Fc defence but Brewers goalie Duncan Ochieng came off his line to pick the ball.

Both teams settled into the game creating few chances before Karim Nzigiyimana curled in a superb cross in the box to find Jacques Tuyisenge and the receiver connected with a magnificent fly header but it was off the mark.

Tusker Fc responded through Shafik Batambuze when he delivered a lovely cross for Allan Wanga who connected with a header in the box but it was too wide on the brink of half time to head to the breather 0-0.

In the second half Gor Mahia Fc came in rejuvenated creating chances to end the stalemate that saw Godfrey Walusimbis free kick in the 78th minute hitting the crossbar before Tusker Fc keeper Duncan Ochieng was called to action when he parried off Meddie Kagares long range thunderous shot.

In the 84th minute Kenneth Muguna delivery a fantastic shot from a free kick beating Tusker Fc custodian Duncan Ochieng but the crossbar rescued the Brewers before substitute Francis Kahata wasted another chance for an opener when his shot went inches wide.

George Nsiimbi led side suffered a major blow on the 85th minute when Hashim Sempala got his second booking of the game for a hard tackle on Godfrey Walusimbi but the champions managed to hold on for a point.

Kogallo are second on the league standings with 13 points while Tusker Fc gained two spots moving to number fifteen with 6 points.

At the same Posta Rangers edged out Kariobangi Sharks by a solitary goal to climb at the summit of the SPL table courtesy of Joseph Mbugis lone strike in the 37th minute from a spot kick after Pascal Ogwenos handball in the 18yard box.

Muhoroni Youth Fc bounced back to the winning ways beating Sony Sugar Fc 2-0 in another SPL encounter staged in Muhoroni Stadium on Saturday. League debutants Nakumatt Fc ended their winless streak hammering Western Stima Fc 2-0 courtesy of Kepha Aswani and their skipper in Machakos County Stadium.

In Nairobis Camp Toyoyo Grounds Sofapaka Fc extend their unbeaten run to five matches after they were forced to settle on a barren draw in their clash with Kakamega Homeboyz as Zoo Kericho Fc salvaged a point against fellow premier league debutants Nzoia Sugar Fc in the battle of SPL new babies staged at Sudi Stadium.

Sportpesa Premier League(SPL) round six action is set to kick off on Friday 21st April 2017 in six venues across the country with nine games lined up on the card.

The Dockers are scheduled to take Sugar millers Chemelil Sugar Fc at Chemelil Complex on Friday after winning their last premier league fixture against Thika United 3-0 in Mombasa last weekend while the opponents are looking forward to bounce back in winning ways after they forced to settle on a barren draw against Western Stima in Kisumu.

On Saturday 22nd April 2017 five matches are line up with Posts Rangers tasked to extend their unbeaten run taking league debutants Kariobangi Sharks who are on upbeat to continue their winning streak at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

In Bungoma at Sudi Stadium will witness a battle of premier league new babies when Nzoia Sugar Fc will host Kericho based side Zoo Fc  on Saturday while in Muhoroni Stadium another battle of sugar millers on the same day pitting Muhoroni Youth Fc against Sony Sugar Fc.

Premier league debutants Nakumatt Fc are hoping for a come back when they host Western Stima Fc at Machakos County Stadium who are looking for redemption after registering mixed results in their last four matches this Saturday.

Back to Nairobi Sofapaka Fc are expected to continue with their brilliant run when they face Kakamega Homeboyz Fc at Camp Toyoyo Grounds in Jericho on Saturday.

The eagerly awaited clash of the titans pitting reigning SPL champions Tusker Fc against the current DStv Super cup champions Gor Mania Fc will be played on Sunday 23rd April 2017 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru before for another league encounter that will see Ulinzi Stars hosting Mathare United on the same venue.

Ulinzi Stars came from behind to pick a point after they were held by Western Stima Fc in a 1-1draw closely contested Sportpesa Premier League midweek clash staged at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

The Power Men grabbed their lead on the 33rd minute when Raymond Murugi capitalized on Ulinzi’s defensive blunder after they failed to the ball allowing his to pull a superb strike beating Ulinzi Stars goalie James Saruni giving his side a 1-0 lead.

But their lead was short lived when the Soldiers responded with a counter attack move in the 35th minute finding Stephen Waruru who pulled a thunderous shot only for Western Stima Fc custodian Stephen Odhiambo to spill the ball to him and he did not hesitate with another magnicificent strike beating Power Men keeper restoring the game to parity.

After the draw the Soldiers lie at position seven on the premier league log with 8 points in four matches  while Western Stima are placed at position fifteen with 4points in four games

Posta Rangers continued with their brilliant form this season beating Mathare United 1-0 in a Sportpesa Premier League match staged at Thika County Stadium on Monday 17th April 2017.

Dennis Mukaisi scored the match winner on the 20th minute giving his side three vital points as Sammy Omollo led charges move to position two on the league standings with eleven points in five games.
On the other hand Slum Boys suffered their second straight loss in two consecutive fixtures after losing 2-1 against Sofapaka Fc in the previous league encounter to claim position 13 on the log with five points.

The Mail Men are lined up to take premier league debutants Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday 23rd April 2017 while Francis Kimanzi led side is set to face Ulinzi Stars on the same day.

In another premier league match new babies Kariobangi Sharks bounced back with a 1-0 victory to claim their second win of the season in a Sportspesa Premier League clash pitting them against league debutants Nakumatt Fc at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos today.

Kariobangi Sharks moved to a season high tenth spot after taking down Nakumatt 1-0 in a fifth round Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash on Monday 17 April at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

Former Sony Sugar Fc attacker Masoud Juma notched the lone strike in the 70th minute propelling his side to position ten on the table with six points in five matches and confining the Shoppers at number sixteen on the league standings with four points after five games.

The Shoppers will be looking for to redeem itself in their next outing against Western Stima Fc on Saturday 22nd April 2017 while Kariobangi Sharks have another chances to extend their winning streak against Posta Rangers on Sunday 23rd April 2017.

Bandari Fc thrashed ten men Thika United 3-0 in an entertaining Sportpesa Premier League clash staged at Mbaraki Sports Club on Sunday 16th April 2016 to extend their perfect record at home.
Thika United failed to grab an early lead from a spot kick on the 15th minute when Baraka Badi was brought down in the box only for Dennis Odhiambo penalty kick was saved by Bandari Fc goalkeeper Joseph Okoth who pulled an excellent save keeping them at bay.

Before Ugandan Import Danny Sserunkuma notched an opener in the 24th minute when he was brought down in the 18yard box by Thika United keeper Eluid Emase who held his foot tight prompting the referee to point the spot and cautioning him as he took the penalty firing in past Thika United custodian giving the host a 1-0 lead.

The host continued to pilled pressure for a second goal as their efforts paid off  in the 39th minute when Anthony Wambani curled a lovely cross in the box finding Darius Msagha who connected with a superb bicycle kick beating Thika United goalie Eluid Emase into the net giving Bandari Fc a 2-0 lead.

James Nandwa led charges were not clinical in their chances seeing Joel Tata who was late to connnect with a brilliant ball in midflield allowing Dockers keeper Joseph Okoth to come off his line to easily catch the ball on  the brink of first half as both side head to the breather 2-0.

On resumption the host came in rejuvenated extending their lead to 3-0 on the 49th when Shaban Kenga curled in a low cross from a free kick finding Danny Sserunkuma who scored his second tapping in past Milk Men goalie Eluid Emase prompting Thika United tactician James to make a double substitution introducing Salim Mzee and Eugune Mukhangula for Baraka Badi and Said Tsuma in a bid to stir up his fire power.

But his move was not fruitful instead he sufffered a major setback in the 85th minute when they were reduced to ten men after Joel Tata was issued a straight red for a bad tackle against  Duncan Otewa to end the game 3-0 in fulltime.
